A lovely time to bring out your winter hats to protect your ears from coming off.I was actually excited this year, because I desired to try wearing out my white popcorn beret (left) which I bought from Urban Outfitters. I figured that it was wintery and cute, and since it is so loose, it won’t give me hat hair (or less of it anyway). Apparently I only got it half right. The first times I wore it, two of my friends told me that I looked like a cancer patient… the rest were polite to comment. Of work I defended myself and told them that they don’t know what they are speaking about, but if I were to be honest with myself, I do kind of look like a cancer patient. Because unlike the models on top where the beret sits atop their head, when I wear it, I pull it all the way down to my eyes and ears (such that no fringe escapes) and am fully bundled up from head to toe- hey it is chilled out there! Regrettably, as a result, cannot see that I have any hair at all and I effectively do look like cancer patient. White was also an unfortunate color choice. The lovable popcorn probably look like tumors on me .
Or am I deluding myself in to thinking that it will look better?Maybe I ought to stick to a classic newsboy cap that looks nice on everyone- possibly in red.
I’d like to think that this “effect” only applies to unstructured berets like the ones above & that if I got a more structured, like this from Eugenia Kim, I would look much better, because I am in love with this hat. I like the tiny buckle & I like the subtly textured tones of purple. It is dark to match with lots of things, but there is still some color to stand out amongst the black hats around.I have a feeling that it might not provide as much coverage & heat as the ones above, but it looks so !
